Our Image: Pixels of Light

/Online Participatory Campaign/

This is a project that I developed for the Catalogue Expanded Practice course in the first term in RCA. The main idea of this catalogue is to collect and display people’s various ideas/interpretations of the photo of the Pale Blue Dot. It started from how I was inspired by this photo, and the realisation of how other people think differently towards one same inspiring photo. Rather than asking simply collect people’s thoughts by asking them to share to me. I decided to make this catalogue to be open-ended, and turned it to a participative campaign.

The idea of this event is to invite people to ‘rebuild’ the original photo of ‘the Pale Blue Dot’ (1304 x 1152 pixels) together pixel by pixel by sharing ideas about the photo and placing each of them in a pixel format square. In this way, we are actually building a new image together pixel by pixel.
