Self-Portrait
/sound installation/
‘Self-Portrait’ is an experimental sound installation, it is also a conceptual self-portrait which is made by people who I share influential relationships with. I selected 30 relationships which have been influential to me in different stages of my life. Some of these relationships are ongoing, some of these are over. All of these relationships are various, and experiencing various kinds of relationships to some extent makes me the person of who I am now. I invited people who share the relationships with me, to describe me from their perspectives, and used the audio recording of our interviews to create this ‘self-portrait’.
In the installation, each of these speakers is playing one of the recordings of the interviews, all of them are placed in a frame which is in my height and width and playing the audios altogether to create an experience of looking at a self-portrait in a holistic way by the overlapping sounds.
