Trace

/installation and performance/

The influences that bring by new technologies to traditional human-kind skills have arisen considerable dialogue and debates, such as handwriting and digital typing. Most importantly, while we enjoys the convenience that bring by the new tech, it is also erasing our trace of existence, when everything become increasingly immaterial. In this project, I decided to create a new perspective to look at this issue, by emerging their common characters in a conceptual way: creating a ‘consumable keyboard’ by using wax and burning it by the end.

The burning process represent the ‘trace of use’, and after the keyboard disappear, a quote from George Orwell was shown: ‘How could you make appeal to the future when not a trace of you, not even an anonymous word scribbled on a piece of paper, could physically survive?’.
